Match Report Saturday 3rd February
Sherborne Town Reserves 1 - 2 Holt United
Cadburys Business Park Dorset Premier League
A wonder strike from Luke Homer in the 80th minute proved to be a worthy match winner for Holt United as the zebra's battled all the way until their last breath. In what was a fantasic game in wet and boggy conditions Sherborne will feel a little hard done by as a draw would have been the minimum they should have come away with in todays match up.
Holt started brightly and opened the scoring through Mike Haskell in the 12th minute as he glanced a header in the back of the net following a great cross from Holts winger.
Sherborne kept their heads and went looking for the equaliser and almost got it when Pulling put Craig through with a two on one situation but has Royel went to square the ball for young Ben Morris Craig sliced the ball and the chance was gone.
Ben Morris did level things up in the 30th minute when he spotted the goal keeper off his line and he chipped him from a very tight angle.
The second half was entertainment for all. Both sides looking for the winner in an end to end battle but it was Holt who grabbed the winner 10 minutes from time as Homer struck from 30 yards with a cracking shot.
Josh Gear and Will Ireland both went close with Craig Royel hitting the bar in that second half period and down the other end Harry Turner, Haydn Brown and Kane Woodgate all put in brilliant displays in what was a great encounter.
