Match Report

Sherborne travelled for this tough mid-week fixture in Bristol having to make changes once again due to player injury and unavailability, such was the short fall Manager Jamie Manley named himself on the bench once again!
The match kicked off on a superb playing surface and it was Bristol Manor Farm who were soon posing problems for the Sherborne back line with their pacey attacking down the wings, Sherborne keeper Jamie Beale was forced into an early save from Farm defender John Lock.Steve Burton was next to save a sure goal making a great blocking tackle inside the six yard area. Sherborne held out until the 21st minute when the ball was fed down the line to  Jack Durrant whose lightning pace saw him forge his way into the box and smash the ball past Beale to give is side the lead.
To Sherborne credit they dug in but playing up the slope it was difficult for them to make any impression on the Manor Farm goal. Sam Payne fired straight at Beale and the Dangerous Dean Stamp fired just over the bar.Sherbornes best play of the half saw Haydn Hodges break well exchange passes with Sam Farthing and Jason Bond working the ball to Harry Montacute whose shot narrowly over Ashley Clarks goal. Just as it looked like Sherborne had weathered the storm and would go in at half time only 1-0 down Stamp found himself in space in the Sherborne area controlled the ball well to slot past Beale.
Manor Farm wasted no time in extending their lead straight from the kick off of the second half, Sherborne never dealt with a corner leaving Stamp to poke home at the far post.Thier was an onslaught on the Sherborne goal as confidence grew for the home side Jordan Metters fed Mills who hit the post then minutes later Pete Shepard made his entry for miss of the season somehow fluffing his lines from a couple of yards out! In a rare foray forward Sherborne forced a corner that Hodges sent across to Montecute whose volley was well saved by Clark.
Farms’ fourth and Stamp hat trick came in emphatic style as the ball was fed through the middle where he controlled the ball, turned the defender and sent a powerful shot past Beale on 80 minutes. Stamps work for the night was done as he was them substituted but Manor Farm had one last goal in them substitute Stone firing home on 83minutes.
Beale made a couple of superb saves at the death and Manor Farms Lock trumped Sheppards effort for miss of the season getting in a right kerfuffle to miss from inches out! Much to the amusement of the gathered crowd his loud unprintable self-assessment of himself found few disagreeing!
A disappointing third defeat on the bounce for Sherborne against a very good Bristol Manor Farm who will no doubt be in the mix for promotion come the end of the season, for Sherborne they need to regroup for another tough road trip to Bradford Town on Saturday.
