Sherborne Town Reserves

2-1 (Away Defeat)

Glen Nathan

Match Report

The reserve travelled to an inform Parley Sports who were riding high on confidence at the top end of the table. There were a few chnages for the awya side,Glen Nathan was chosen to go in go(because of his height i assume?) Sheard was gaining some match fitness on the centre of defence, there was a debut in the centre of midfield for Wilksy Cpatain Bond was back having been enjoying summer sports elsewhere and Carl Chesterman was back form his holidays.

The game started evenly with niether sdie able to sieze the initiative.Nathan made some good inteceptions from crosses in the away goal and things were ever for the first 20 minutes.25 minute was played when the breakthrough was made when a long range strike from Parley was parried by Nathan in the home goal only for each to fall to the onrushing striker who gleefully poke it home from close range.

Sherborne never wained and continued to psh forward with confidence looking for the equaliser. On 60 minutes a wild swipe from Brown missed the ball but caught the attacker whihc led to a penalty for the home side that was gleefully despatched despite vain efforts from Nathan.Sherborne continued to push for a goal that would get the m back into the game Rowe came close from distance and Tully blazed over when well placed.

Parley were still creating chnaces on the break but Nathan was keeping them at bay pulling off a srting of fine save that belied his inexperience between the sticks.Sherbornes perserverence finally paid of in the closing stages when Seamark stabbed the ball home as it broke loose from a Peaty corner.

Although the match finished with a 2-1 defeat it was a much improved performance and with a bit of luck in the right areas the result could have easily been different.
