Sherborne Town Reserves

3-1 (Home Win)

Sam Vine - excellent engine

Match Report

Two second half strikes from Sam Jarman secured three points for Sherborne Town Reserves on an afternoon where they could have doubled their tally.

Raleigh Grove manager Jason Lock was left contemplating a draw before former Yeovil Town youngster Jarman popped up to turn the hosts' dominance into goals.

Shane Adcock Case's penalty after five minutes had given Sherborne the lead but the two teams went in level at the break.

Lock said: "We started very well and played some good football in the first ten minutes. After the penalty we took the foot off the pedal and lost our shape. Parley played some good football, strung passes together and equalised five minutes before half time.

"Our marking disappeared, people were not doing their jobs, they were not winning second balls and it was all too similar to last week at Wool RBL.

"The players had a bit of a roasting and in the second half they came out and started playing football. How we did not score more than we did I do not know."

Dwayne Forshaw earned Adock Case's penalty before Parley hit back. It was not until the hour mark when Sherborne regained their lead as Jarman swept home Sam Vine's flick from Forshaw's cross.

Ten minutes later Vine had the chance to put the game beyond doubt but headed over from six yards, before Jarman hit the keeper, one on one.

Lee Clark then missed a three-yard sitter before Jarman finally found the net for a second time, striking Ollie Wake's ball over the top first time from the edge of the area.

"We created a lot of chances and played a lot better after the break," said Lock. "It should have been 6-1 bit the time it finished. I would like us to be more clinical in front of goal but the lads responded to what I asked at half time and I am pleased.

"Keeper Marc Lock did not have a lot to do but the longer I was waiting for a goal the longer I wondered if it was going to go wrong. I did not relax until Sam got the third.

"Sam Vine was fantastic again. His energy and engine in the middle of the park is unbelievable."
