Match Report

Sherborne Town Reserves surrendered a two-goal lead against Cranborne as the Raleigh Grove visitors fought back for a draw in the Dorset Premier League.

Coach Terry Butler’s team a rode an attacking storm from Cranborne late in the first half, with keeper Ashley Knibbs making two fine saves, before striking twice in the second period.

Ian Jenkins bagged both goals for the hosts in a game that saw under-18 starlets Ryan Trevett and Jack Burnett impress. Trevett was making his second appearance for the reserves, while Burnett made his debut from the substitutes’ bench.

Robbie Platt and James O’Brien also completed their return to fitness as replacements, but summer-signing Aaron Mead limped away from the action.

Butler praised Jenkins for his finishes, but admitted Cranborne’s fight back acted as a wake-up call for the team. He said: "Two late goals were an unwelcome reminder of the football we need to play week-in-week-out.

"Although the result was disappointing, quality and concentration is crucial for the entire 90 minutes."
