Match Report

Sherborne travelled to Bridport in confident mood following back to back wins over Longwell Green and Bradford Town. Kris Hastings was out injured and Steve Burton unavailable, in came Hayden Brown and Adam Barratt.George Mapletoft took a place on the bench as did Ben Wood.
Sherborne got off to a great start Marc Caines had a shot deflected for a corner in the first minute which Elliott Mann swung in to Nick Jacobs who headed home is second goal in as many games.Bridport were struggling to contain Sherborne in the early stages of the game Marc Caines and Tony Cunningham were proving a menacing pair both have effort narrowly wide of the target.
Bridport got themselves back on level terms in the 31st minute when Tom Blair sent in an inviting cross for Jamie Beasley to smash past Jamie Beale.Sherorne responded well and restored their lead five minutes later, Adam Barratt sending a shot in on goal that Joshua Hadley could only parry into the path of Elliott Mann who wasted no time in firing home.
Bridport were looking dangerous on the break and forced two corners in the 39th minute but they couldn’t trouble Jamie Beale in the visitor’s goal, although they came close on the stroke of half time though a Sean Stewart effort that flew just wide.
The zebras started the second half as they did the first scoring almost immediately Tony Cunningham looking suspiciously off side latched on to a long ball and fired a shot on goal that was well saved by Hadley but again Sherborne were first to the loose ball this time Marc Caine’s being the man to fire home to make it 3-1.
Bridport bought on Warren Byerley who looked dangerous combining with Beasley well on occasions, Byerley should have scored when though on goal but found Jamie Beale in inspired form saving well twice in quick succession .Pete Ireland hit the post in the 66th minute Marc Caine’s then lashed the rebound over the bar.
Sherborne made the game safe in the dying stages when Hadley and Luke King got their wires crossed leaving Ben Wood the simple task of firing into an empty net to send the Zebras fans home happy.
A very entertaining game of football with Sherborne coming out worthy winners.Man of the Match went to Tony Cunningham.Mapletoft,Wood,Manley.
