Sherborne Town moved off the bottom of the table courtersy of Tony Cunningham's second half brace.
Both sides created chances in the first 45 minutes, with the first real effort falling to Sherborne after 15 minutes when the visiting keeper was twice called into action to save Matt Chant's strike and the follow up.
Five minutes later, Sherborne keeper Marc Lock was forced into making a top class save to keep out a long range effort.
Both teams had efforts clered off the line before the visitors hit the bar from close range after 30 minutes.
After the restart, Sherborne upped a gear and on 54 minutes, forward Tony Cunningham flicked the ball past the Bridport keeper to give the hosts the lead.
Sherborne's advantage was doubled just after the hour matk when the ball found Cunningham in space, who fired into the net for his second.
The visitors played the final 15 minutes with ten men after a player came off injured, and they did well to keep the score at 2-0 with Sherborne's Chant watching his effort being tipped round the post in the final minutes.
