Match Report

This game was important for both sides but for different reasons and it turned out that Sherborne Town saved their best performance of the season against highflyers Hallen whose performances have dipped since their game against Merthyr Town.

The first half started at a fast pace with both sides attacking and creating half chances. Sherborne forward Tony Cunningham had the hosts' best chance of the first half when his long range shot was palmed away by the visiting keeper. At the other end, Sherborne keeper Marc Lock was called into action, making a superb save just before half time to keep the score level.

The first twenty minutes of the second half belonged to Sherborne during which time the home side's captain, Harry Montacute volleyed in off the post and forward Matt Chant scored to put the Sherbs in a comfortable posisition.

With substitutions coming thick and fast, Hallen got back into the game and reduced the defecit but the game was decided when a long clearance from keeper Lock found Chant on a one on one with Hallen keeper and he calmly rounded to slot home.
