Away Match vs Bristol Manor Farm FC (LP Cup)
Saturday 12 November 2011
Les Phillips Cup 2011/12
4-0 (Away Defeat)
As reported on the Bristol Manor Farm website: - "Sherborne Town are a team who are down on their luck at the moment: they battled for ninety minutes but came away with nothing."
However this was an improvement on the week before when the heads dropped in the second half (vs. Willand Rovers).
The game started at a fast pace with play switching from end to end with a period of play when Sherborne played their part which was reflected when winning eight corners in a 15 minute spell.
Sherborne Town’s chances of getting a result from this cup game were reduced when defender, Jack Baker damaged his knee when colliding with the concrete standing of the Technical area just before half time and was replaced by Jack Burnett.
The second half was only six minutes old when yet again another poor referee decision was made when the man in charge adjudged Sherborne defender Jason Bond to have fouled a Bristol Manor Farm forward which resulted in the home side increasing their lead from the penalty spot.
The game continued in the same format as the first half with Sherborne unable to turn their chances into goals.
Scott Wells was brought on after 66 minutes for his Sherborne Town debut in place of Chris Cowley. Manor Farm made it 3-0 on 72 minutes and increased their lead to 4-0 just before the end.
