Match Report

Sherborne Town were left to rue a lack of hunger at Bristol Manor Farm in a game marred by serious injury to Richard Parkinson.

The diminutive attacker was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary with a broken leg following an innocuous first-half challenge.

His team were already two behind, as Farm went on to record a 6-0 victory and maintain their unbeaten home form this season.

Caretaker coach James Thompson, in the dugout on his 26th birthday, said: "We lacked the work rate and desire. Nobody really wanted to do the hard stuff."

The hosts took just ten minutes to forge ahead, when a poor pass in midfield allowed an attacker to steal in and run 30 yards before scoring.

The second came as the result of a deep free kick, lofted in to the far post. A Manor Farm man gathered the ball on the byline, who crossed for an easier header.

Sherborne then lost Parkinson, as he was unfortunately caught on the shin going sideways into a tackle moments after being booked.

The visitors' worst fears were confirmed upon arrival at hospital, where he was diagnosed with a broken tibia.

Farm extended their lead before half-time, winning the ball in midfield before converting a cross from the byline with a close-range header.

Three became four shortly after the start of the second half when Sherborne's corner clearance came straight back at them.

The ball bobbled across the face of the goal, before a Manor Farm striker finished from a matter of yards.

With the game beyond doubt, Manor Farm rubbed salt in Sherborne's wounds with two further strikes.

Thompson said: "When it was 3-0 we managed to go close. Aaron Lomax's cannoned shot went across the area and had that gone in it might have been a different game. Apart from that, we had nothing."
